Appearance: Rosiel is almost exactly the mirror image of his twin sister Alexiel, a resemblance so strong that when Rosiel is dressed in loose clothing, it can be difficult to tell that he is a man. He has wavy, tousled blue hair that reaches past his knees, and large amber eyes in a youthful, remarkably beautiful face. He is well aware of his good looks and enjoys making use of them. He often dresses himself up in fashionable human clothing, decked out with a full complement of accessories and creative new hairstyles, even for such seemingly inappropriate errands as attacking his enemies or calling forth rainstorms from the sky. Rosiel's white feathered wings are only visible when he is flying or using powerful magic, but he has three of them, with the third extending from between the others, from the middle of his back.
Personality: At one time, Rosiel was one of the most compassionate of the angels, reaching out even to the Grigors, the spirits that angels use as fuel for their magic powers, in order to offer one of those beings a chance at life. But in the time that passed since then, Rosiel began to go mad. He became cruel and suspicious of others, viewing them as beings who were inherently corrupt and could only be motivated by fear or lust. Because of these feelings of distrust, he began to rob many of his own servants and followers of their free will, forcing them to eat pills that would turn them into mindless automatons that would do his bidding without question. Isolated completely from any meaningful interaction with others, Rosiel lost all regard for human (and angel) life, freely and happily killing others whenever it was necessary, and sometimes when it was not.
At the root of Rosiel's madness is an intense self-hatred. He is terrified others will recognize him as a monster, and react with horror either to his actions, which have been reprehensible, or upon learning what he really looks like. Rosiel was originally a sickly creature covered in rotting flesh, similar to a leper, whose life was barely sustained by an infusion of his sister's cells. Believing that his sister already hated him, he repeatedly and forcibly absorbed excess amounts of her cellular material in order to remake himself in her image. This routine of upkeep to his physical appearance resulted in a self-perpetuating cycle of guilt, distrust, and desperation-- Rosiel's life and status revolved around maintaining his artificial beauty by repeatedly torturing his sister, the only one who he believed stood a chance of accepting his true form. Meanwhile, he could never trust anyone who offered him loyalty based on his false appearance, so the way that he saw it, the only thing he could reasonably strive for in life in order to have any peace at all was be to find a way to merge with his sister and make her beauty his own, permanently.
In his interactions with others, Rosiel exhibits confidence and charisma as well as a childlike moodiness, and he tends to openly exhibit negative emotions such as anger or fear, while concealing or suppressing positive feelings such as compassion or concern. He gives very little back in return for the kindness and consideration from others, while constantly seeking reinforcement for his own insecurities, even if he knows that the approval of other people can't do a thing to ease his self-disgust. As such, he comes off as a person who is extremely hungry for admiration, for affection, and for approval, despite being extremely cold in his treatment of those he seeks it from.
Abilities: In Angel Sanctuary canon, Rosiel's abilities are extensive. The "germ" which causes his body to rot serves as a double-edged sword. It may have weakened him early in life, but later in his life it appears to be the source of almost limitless power. This includes a power of invulnerability carried in his blood, which he frequently shares with others in order to heal or control them. He tends to be impervious to illness, and is able to generate piercing wires and powerful bursts of energy, as well as control the weather, absorb emotional data from human beings through computers, change shapes, and a whole host of other abilities. Essentially, in the manga, there was very little Rosiel couldn't do. This... well, isn't okay for a game!
In Manhattan, he will find that the remarkable restorative capabilities of his blood are, for all appearences, totally gone. He will therefore be vulnerable to injury, a fact which will keep his destructive tendencies in check, as he finds himself surrounded by strangers and can't be sure of what their retribution might be for any violent actions on his part. While he can still manipulate energy, as well as use his powers to fly short distances, the process of using these abilities will be laborious and exhausting.
His ability to summon wires is likewise still present, but comes with caveats--in order to use the ability, his body must actually turn into these wires, in full or in part, and after a short time, he will essentially get "stuck" that way, while at the same time bottoming out on energy and losing his ability to effectively manipulate the wires as weapons. As he regains energy, he'll be able to resume his usual shape, but for a while he will be reduced to a sluggish and ineffective monster.
The last ability he would retain from the manga would be a limited degree of machine sympathy, the ability to plug into computers and attempt to initiate a connection into the mind/emotions of a user on the other side. This would probably give him a certain degree of "hacking" ability, though he doesn't manually input any information to computers, he just plugs in and absorbs/relays information. Any use of special machine sympathy related abilities would be limited to cases where it has been okayed by the involved mun, in addition to getting mod approval as necessary.
Weaknesses: Monster or not, Rosiel is used to being treated as a powerful and important person, and would find a difficult learning curve in losing his invincibility, his status, and the lion's share of his abilities all in one go. In addition to this, he is extremely emotionally volatile and suspicious, resulting in a high likelihood of alienating potential allies with an unmerited burst of pointlessly venomous comments or unruly behavior. He does not really know how to interact with people in a genuine fashion, and is likely to experience difficulty or confusion in ordinary social interactions as he attempts to manipulate people with transparent tactics.
Even with his original powers, Rosiel was never particularly physically strong, and a low capacity to expend magical energy will compound this issue. But above and beyond all this, Rosiel requires continued access to his sister in order to absorb her cellular material and retain his form. Although Rosiel was comparatively pure at this time, many of the angels of heaven had become corrupt, launching a brutal and merciless attack on the "Evils," a race of demons that did not actually follow the Devil. This led Alexiel, Rosiel's twin sister, to join with the demons and rebel against God, a fight that eventually pitted her against Rosiel, who had remained loyal to heaven. Although she defeated Rosiel in battle, Alexiel could not bring herself to kill him, and sealed him inside the earth. At the end of the battle, Alexiel found herself on the losing side, and was sentenced to be reincarnated endlessly into miserable and tragic lives as a human on earth.
Many years later, Rosiel's servant Katan had grown up, and saw that heaven had become even more twisted and corrupt than before. He thought that his mentor Rosiel must be its only hope for a peaceful future, and came to the earth to free him, committing violent acts and sacrificing his moral standards for what he thought was the greater good. Unfortunately, once freed, Rosiel had no concern for anything except Alexiel, the sister who had betrayed him. As his old followers returned secretively to aid him, he put all his resources to bear on tormenting Alexiel's human reincarnation to try to trigger a return of her memories so that he could confront her.
When this plan went awry, and Alexiel's human personality proved difficult to subdue, he finally focused his attention on heaven, returning to a hero's welcome and taking a seat as supreme ruler that had been occupied by the child angel Metatron in the absence of any alternate authority. While playing a cat-and-mouse game with rivals in heaven, Rosiel set his sights on reopening the gates to God's domain so that he could enact a plan to merge with Alexiel by force using ancient sealed powers.
His machinations and feuds in Heaven eventually brought him to a confrontation with an enemy called Sandalphon, who he attempted to subdue by absorbing into his body and mind. The unintended result of this action would have been a backlash through his system that greatly accellerated his degeneration and madness. However, instead of merging successfully with Sandalphon, he is pulled apart from him and transported to Manhattan soon after the process had begun. He awakens thinking that he somehow came to the city of his own free will, as a way of escaping the unwanted consequences of his merging attempt.
